What I do not know is whether it has so completely broken down that I am obligated to abandon it, or whether (as I've been suggesting) faithfulness to my own heritage and to the Universal Church requires me to remain within my tradition (a tricky point for me owing to my nondenominational upbringing) and try to coax it toward greater faithfulness (even as I submit to its disciplines and hear the voice of the Universal Church through it, however distorted by local traditions and the poisonous heritage of schism).

We are convinced that the consensus we have reached offers a solid basis for this clarification. The theme was “Shaping identities: an historical and cultural exploration of Irish Protestantism”. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself.

Eight years later the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the act. We also see warnings of scandals, wars, and disasters that must take place before Christ returns (see all of Matthew Ch. 24) and revelation that few will have the faith when Christ returns (Luke 18:8), and that the gate to heaven is narrow and few there are that will find it (Luke 13:24). They are not Christianity, they merely make space for different varieties of faith to flourish.

They all certainly violate #9 with their practice of "individual interpretation" of Holy Scripture. As a matter of fact, he succeeded in divesting Geneva of its old national customs, and everywhere in the Reformed Church appears the same tendency to conform the external matters of life to the words of the Bible in a manner quite foreign to Lutheranism. The church is presently organized in 138 world areas. Protestantism creates a false dichotomy between symbolism and sacramental reality (e.g., baptism, Eucharist). 84.

This is exactly why the Orthodox “do church” the way we do. Today there are hundreds of different denominations that originally derived from the reformation movement. Before Protestantism reached England, the Roman Catholic Church was the established state church. Their worship services are similar in some ways to those of Roman Catholicism, and their clergy orders are the same: bishops, priests, and deacons. Under the leadership of Andrzej Gawronski, Stanislaw Schayer, Stanislaw Stasiak, Arnold Kunst, Jan Jaworski and others, the Polish tradition of Buddhist studies formed mainly in two study centers, Lwow (now in Ukraine) and Warsaw.

There was an emptiness in her life as she approached the age of 40 or so that prompted Nathan Hecht to invite her to the Valley View Christian Church. In taking the literal translation of Holy Scripture with the mind set of Protestantism, that is all they would get. Only for their intercession or help, at end of each prayer you must say "but only God's will be done". Lutherans hold to an understanding closest to that of Real Presence (often characterized by critics by the term, " consubstantiation "), which affirms the true presence of Christ "in, with, and under" the bread and wine.
